About Localtarian: Bringing Local Closer to Home

Joseph Kafka, founder of Localtarian, smiling while holding a locally-sourced fruit basket, symbolizing his commitment to supporting local businesses and fostering community connections.

Hey there, I’m Joseph Kafka, the inquisitive mind and driving force behind Localtarian. Some folks also call me “Little Bird,” a moniker that’s more than just a name—it embodies the essence of my curiosity and resilience, taking inspiration from the meaning of my surname, Kafka, which translates to “Jackdaw” in certain corners of the world.

My journey kicked off in the realm of social work, where I gradually intertwined the arts of storytelling, writing, and video production. I soon realized the power of this unique blend, empowering individuals, igniting community inspiration, and nurturing business growth. It was then that content marketing and storytelling became my lifeblood.

The genesis of Localtarian traces back to 2020, a pivotal year marked by the struggles of small businesses amidst lockdowns and economic turmoil. Witnessing my neighbors grappling to access local essentials—be it food, services, or supplies—it dawned on me that compromises on values or heavy reliance on government aid shouldn’t be the norm for survival.

Engaging with local producers, farmers, and small businesses shed light on shared challenges—marketing hurdles, adapting to the digital landscape, and securing local support. It was a wake-up call that fueled my resolve to make a difference. Thus, the vision for Localtarian was born—a platform bridging communities with their local producers, fostering resilience and nurturing a vibrant, self-sustaining ecosystem.

At Localtarian, my mission is clear: to curate a marketplace for locally-made goods and services. I dream of becoming a beacon of hope for small local businesses, easing their transition into the digital realm and alleviating the technological burdens they face.
The premise is simple—bring local closer to home.

With an ambitious vision, I aim to build more than just a marketplace; I envision a tapestry that binds communities together, celebrating their innate strength. And with your support, we can weave this tapestry, enriching lives and fostering connections within our neighbourhoods.

When I’m not immersed in Localtarian, you’ll find me at Eagle Vision Video Production, where I proudly serve as a dedicated project manager. Here, my mission revolves around helping businesses craft impactful websites, create compelling video marketing content, and devise effective social media strategies. If you seek expertise in these areas or aim to enhance your online presence, I invite you to connect with us. Your vision, our expertise—let’s bring your projects to life!
